In January of 2015 Dave Anderson, Szu-Ting Yi, Matt Hartman and myself will travel to the Aisen region of Chilean Patagonia and attempt to climb a new route on the South Avellano Tower.

This will be Anderson’s second trip to the region; in 2004 he visited the area and climbed, but was mostly thwarted by poor weather. It will be the first time to the area for the other three.

The expedition currently has the financial support of the Alpinist Magazine by way of the Mugs Stump Grant, a Todd Skinner Foundation Grant, the Mazamas and the National Outdoor Leadership School in the form of Instructor Development Fund grants.

Also much thanks to the NOLS Rocky Mountain and the NOLS Patagonia for their unwavering support in the use of equipment, supplies, space and time.

    1. Thanks for reading Brian. You are right, it is a tad bit bigger. Only made it 400 meters up before realizing that we were not equipped for the type of climbing it would require. Cest la vie.
